Who we are
MedScribe is operated by Medwiz Global ([registered legal name]), registered at [registered address]. For anything on this page, write to [privacy contact email].
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and phone number, and your password, which we store only in hashed form.
- Professional details, used to verify that you are a healthcare professional: medical registration number and council, qualification, designation, institution, specialties, years of experience, location, the supporting documents you upload, and an optional profile photo.
- What you do on MedScribe: content you save, poll answers, comments, contributions and the editorial decisions on them, notifications, and your email preferences.
- Technical information: the cookies listed below. To protect sign-in from abuse, and to count advertisement clicks and how often cases, guidelines and news are read once per visitor per day, we use your network address and browser type, but we store them only as a keyed one-way code that cannot be read back and is deleted within two days. The counts themselves are totals and record nothing about who read what. Our hosting providers keep standard server logs, which include network addresses.
Visitors who don't register can read public pages without giving us any personal details.
Email updates for visitors: if you sign up on the home page, we keep your email address and the date you confirmed it, only after you click the confirmation link we send. We use it only for MedScribe updates, and you can unsubscribe from any of them.
How we use it
- To create and secure your account, including sign-in codes and optional two-step verification.
- To verify your professional registration against official medical council registers.
- To show you content, personalise your specialty feed, and record your saves, votes and comments.
- To review, publish and credit your contributions, and tell you the outcome of each decision.
- To send service emails (sign-in codes, password resets, verification results, messages about your own content). These are part of the service and are always sent.
- To send updates such as new cases and guideline digests, only if you opt in. Every update email has an unsubscribe link, and you can switch them off in Profile & Settings → Notifications.
- To keep the platform secure, prevent misuse and meet our legal obligations.
We process your information because you consent when you register, because it is needed to provide the service you signed up for, and where the law requires it.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with advertisers. We share it only with:
- Service providers who run the platform for us under contract: Amazon Web Services (database, document storage and email, hosted in the Mumbai region), our website hosting provider, and Google, whose Gemini AI service drafts text from documents you submit for publication (see the AI use policy).
- Other users, only for what you publish: published contributions and comments show your name and professional details as their author.
- Authorities, when the law requires us to.
MedScribe serves healthcare professionals worldwide, so if you use it from outside India your information is transferred to and processed in India, and documents sent for AI drafting are processed by Google.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your account, profile, verification documents, saved items and preferences. Content you have already published stays on the platform for other readers, credited to “Former contributor” instead of your name. We keep a record of editorial decisions and of the deletion itself where the law requires it.
How we protect it
Passwords are stored as one-way hashes. Sign-in sessions use secure, HTTP-only cookies, and you can turn on two-step verification. Verification documents are kept in private, encrypted storage that only MedScribe staff can open. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we will tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
Your rights
You can see and correct your details in your profile. In Profile & Settings → Account & Security you can also download a copy of your data and delete your account yourself. You can withdraw consent at any time; that closes your account, because we cannot provide the service without it. Depending on where you live, you may also object to how we use your data and complain to a data protection authority. For anything else, write to [privacy contact email].
Age
MedScribe is for healthcare professionals and is not intended for anyone under 18.
Changes to this page
We update this page as MedScribe changes and show the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will tell registered users by email or in the app before it takes effect.
